A smartphone \u2013 why would I need a smartphone?
\nWe never even use our land line.
\nI can remember a time when \u2013 if the phone rang at night \u2013 everyone froze.
\nA call at night could only mean one thing: bad news.<\/p>\n

These days, I use my cell phone to send\/receive calls and text messages.
\nIsn\u2019t that enough?<\/p>\n

Mom mastered the computer \u2013 she could send e-mail and was a wiz scanning and sending photos.
\nShe was hi-tech.<\/p>\n

Dad? Not so much.<\/p>\n

Forty years ago, learning how to use a computer was a lot like learning to climb the sheer side of a cliff.<\/p>\n

Tough, painful and scary.<\/p>\n

I was sure I wouldn\u2019t make it \u2013 but then, there we were at the top \u2013 and there was no going back. Tech has evolved, and is quickly taking us right along with it.<\/p>\n

Do I really need a smartphone?
\nI decided it was time to find out.<\/p>\n

My smartphone arrived this week.<\/p>\n

First reaction: Wow \u2013 why did I wait so long!?
\nThis is an amazing tool.<\/p>\n

Easy to use.
\nIt pulls all of my information together in one handy tool: e-mail, text, phone, photos, the Internet \u2013 everything.<\/p>\n

Now \u2013 wherever I am \u2013 I am connected.<\/p>\n

Phone quality is excellent.<\/p>\n

But \u2013 could I read anything on it?
\nTurns out \u2013 I can.<\/p>\n

When the GenealogyBank Blog post arrived in my inbox today \u2013 with one click I was reading it.<\/p>\n

Simple, easy and I could read it while sitting in the car waiting for my wife \u2013 I didn\u2019t have to be home reading it on my laptop.
\nThis is going to be handy \u2013 a real time-saver.<\/p>\n

Would I be able to read a GenealogyBank newspaper article on my iPhone?<\/p>\n

Turns out \u2013 I can!
\nHere is a marriage article I pulled up about one of my cousins.<\/p>\n

Wow \u2013 this is so clear and easy to read.
\nWith a swoosh of my fingers I can easily enlarge or reduce the image.<\/p>\n

Searching is a snap.<\/p>\n

Going hi-tech is a lot of fun too.<\/p>\n
