According to this 1866 newspaper article, the Cleveland family hadn\u2019t gotten together for 31 years \u2013 not since \u201cthe wedding of the eldest daughter in 1835.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16221\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16221\" style=\"width: 393px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.genealogybank.com\/doc\/newspapers\/image\/v2%3A125C1B91E57C8E0A%40GB3NEWS-125D7D98108FB546%402402877-125C31821217EF26%403-12605F6A7149106D\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-16221\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16221\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genealogybank.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cleveland-leader-newspaper-1002-1866-cleveland-family-reunion.png\" alt=\"An article about a reunion of the Cleveland family, Cleveland Leader newspaper article 2 October 1866\" width=\"393\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genealogybank.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cleveland-leader-newspaper-1002-1866-cleveland-family-reunion.png 393w, https:\/\/www.genealogybank.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cleveland-leader-newspaper-1002-1866-cleveland-family-reunion-193x300.png 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16221\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cleveland Leader (Cleveland, Ohio), 2 October 1866, page 4<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But gather they did in Huntsburgh, Geauga County, Ohio, for their mother\u2019s birthday on 24 September 1866 \u2013 which the newspaper tells us was her \u201ceighty-first birth-day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of Esther (Allen) Cleveland\u2019s (1785- ) nine adult children were there, \u201cthe eldest being fifty-eight and the youngest thirty-five.\u201d All attended except their \u201celdest [Oren Alexander Cleveland], an infant son, [who] died of scarlet fever\u201d in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>Esther and Oren Cleveland were married \u201cin 1805\u2026 at Enfield, Conn., and resided in that State till 1839, when they removed to Geauga county, Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One son, [James Chamberlain Cleveland, 1813-1886] who is a farmer up among the hills of Litchfield county, Conn., had not seen his mother for twenty-seven years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If your family hasn\u2019t gotten together for 31 years \u2013 like the Clevelands \u2013 there is still time.
