Smithsonian Institution, 1 January 1906, page 84.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Wikipedia, the Arikara: \u201cToday\u2026 are enrolled with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mandan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mandan<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hidatsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hidatsa<\/a>\u00a0as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Federally_recognized_tribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federally recognized tribe<\/a>\u00a0known as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Three_Affiliated_Tribes_of_the_Fort_Berthold_Reservation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That same Wikipedia article confirmed that the Sioux routinely attacked the Arikara in a 19th Century version of ethnic cleansing. \u201cGroups of Sioux were the ones who gained most by the weakening of the Arikara.
