Melissa is a genealogist who has a website, <a href=\"http:\/\/americana-archives.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">americana-archives.com<\/a>, and a Facebook group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/HistoryGenNEFamilies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England Family Genealogy and History<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today I continue with research and identification of a photograph card album in the collection of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.californiapioneers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society of California Pioneers<\/a> which holds the family pictures of New England-born Captain Joseph Warren Osborn (1818-1863) and his wife Lucretia Ann (Moore) Osborn (1821-1891). They married on 3 October 1852 in San Francisco, California.<\/p>\n<p>To recap: Captain Joseph Warren Osborn of Salem, Massachusetts, is the son of William Osborn (1792-1892) and Anna Henfield (Bowditch) Osborn (1795-1857). He moved to California where he owned and operated \u201cOak Knoll,\u201d a vineyard estate in Napa Valley. Credit: Society of California Pioneers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Moore Family Line<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For today, I present photo cards relating to his wife Lucretia Ann (Moore) Osborn\u2019s side of the family tree introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/5ftsw5wh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part 1<\/a>. Her parents are San Fransisco\u2019s first postmaster <a href=\"https:\/\/pcad.lib.washington.edu\/building\/24833\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacob Bailey Moore II<\/a>, son of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/83667331\/jacob_bailey_moore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Jacob Bailey<\/a> and Mary (Eaton) Moore; and his wife Mary Adams (Hill) Moore, daughter of Isaac Alexander and Hannah (Russell) Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Although these two photo cards are not labeled, after careful comparisons of the individuals\u2019 other portraits it is highly probable these two cards are Jacob and Mary.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_99256\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-99256\" style=\"width: 1274px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.genealogybank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/collage-0611-2024-jacob-and-mary-moore.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-99256\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.genealogybank.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/collage-0611-2024-jacob-and-mary-moore.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Jacob Bailey and Mary Adams (Hill) Moore. Credit: Society of California Pioneers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here is a card for Jacob Baily Moore II from the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/familysearch.org\/ark:\/61903\/1:1:QP82-8VPL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California, Pioneer Migration Index, Compiled 1906-1935<\/a>.\u201d The information states that Jacob was born in Andover, New Hampshire, on 31 October 1797, the son of Dr. J. B. Moore (U.S. Army, 1772-1813), and he married Mary Adams Hill, sister of Gov. It contains the lives of John Carver, William Bradford, Edward Winslow, Thomas Prence, Josias Winslow, and <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3QS0AkA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomas Hinckley<\/a>, governors of the Colony of New Plymouth, from the landing of the Pilgrims in 1620 to the union of the Colony with Massachusetts in 1692; and the lives of John Winthrop, Thomas Dudley, John Haynes, Henry Vane, Richard Bellingham, John Endecott, John Leverett, Simon Bradstreet, Joseph Dudley, and Edmund Andros, governors of Massachusetts Bay, from 1630 to 1689.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026Mr. Moore has hit upon a most excellent plan; and from the slight inspection we have had of the sheets, we have no doubt that his book, executed as it has been with the most scrupulous care and accuracy, will be welcomed by all who feel an interest in the early history of the country.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Additional Photo Cards of Moore and Allied Families<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>George Henry Moore (1823-1892) is the son of Jacob Bailey and Mary Adams (Hill) Moore. He married Mary Howe Givan (1819-1889), the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Evertson) Givan. Alison \u201cAlice\u201d Givan Moore (1856-1910) married Thomas Edward Vermilye Smith (1857-1922), son of Edward and Elizabeth Breese (Vermilye) Smith. The couple left descendants. George Evertson Moore (1852-1891), a physician, died from influenza followed by pericarditis. His wife Emily Jane (Eastman) Moore (1809-1881) is the daughter of Abel Blanchard and Sally (Chandler) Eastman of New Hampshire. John was an editor and author of musical publications.
