- Uniontown, MD, birthplace of 3x Great Grandmom Hannah Margaret (Fleegal) Smith. Not yet certain, but I suspect the immigrants arrived through Baltimore County, migrated to eastern Frederick County, from which Carroll County was carved. Our branch crossed the Mason-Dixon, passed through Bedford County, moving into Cumberland & Dauphin counties in central Penna., where they hooked up w/the Smith(s). John, named an "Old Defender," is in reference to the defense of Ft. McHenry in the War of 1812.
