Genealogy Award for Elizabeth Crabtree Wells
Hat's off to Elizabeth Crabtree Wells, Coordinator of the Special Collections Department, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. Elizabeth is the recipient of this year's William Filby Award for Genealogical Librarianship. This award is given annually to a librarian whose primary focus is genealogy and local history, and who is employed in a public, academic, or special library.

Active in the genealogical and historical communities, Liz Wells served as the past president of the Alabama Genealogical Society, the Birmingham Genealogical Society, and is a founder and past president of the Society of Alabama Archivists. She is a regular lecturer at the Samford Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. She is co-author of The History of Judson College. She holds a B.A. from Judson College, an M.A. from Auburn University, and an M.L.S. from the University of Alabama.
