A telecast appeal r'or membership and funds nu ke live by Oregon Educational and Public Broadcasting Serv ice members brought in more than 1,200 new members and $15,000 in pledges following Friday and Sunday telecasts via KOAP. The appeals con tinue through March 17 on “Festival ’75: Public Televi sion Awareness Week” — an Oregon and national cam paign to acquaint television viewers with the uniqu : vi diverse programming oil d by the two stations aim r y the PBS network. Pleages resulting from the Friday and Sunday appeals were tele phoned to the studio and TV ranged from $10 to $100 with some from families, says Donald S. Bryant, OEPBS director. Incidentally, pledges can be mailed to the studio. (Post Office Box 1097, 97207.) In the meantime, the Port land area volunteer group, “The Wise Eyes,” has been getting excellent reaction on visits to public events garbed in costumes from “Sesame Street” and "Upstairs, Down stairs,” two popular PBS pro grams. At the Trail Blazer game, for example, Sheila Duncan says “Watch 10” had excel lent coverage in Chicago. It seems the Chicago sta tion covering the game turned its cameras on Super Big Bird and Cookie Monster rather than the Memorial Coliseum crowds at intermission time. Elsewhere on the OEPBS scene: Bryant says KTVR (Ch. 13) La Grande, went off the air Friday with no plans announced by its parent sta tion, KTVB, Boise, to resume operations until Oregon decides whether to purchase the station. Legislators from Union and Umatilla counties have shown interest in such acquisition, Bryant said. Parents: Class Will Repeat So many fathers and moth ers have enrolled in a class in parent involvement that the Portland schools will hold another later this year. Iva Lane, parent involve ment coordinator, said 38 fathers and mothers signed for the class, which is meant to show them how to boost children’s educational devel opment at home. Only 25 were expected, she said. The class is held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at Eliot School. The present class ends April 10, and Mrs. Lane said the next will begin April 17. llGKEATV OF PUBLIC \ AS /TELEVISION WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 7:30 For five months and live days the volcano Eldiel! terronzed the Icelandic isle ot Heimaey with tlymg ash
